“District of Lake in India”, Nainital is one of the lovely hill stations and most visited in North India. Encircled by mountains on three sides. Nainital is located around the beautiful lake Naini Tal.where. Naini means ‘The Eye’ and Tal means ‘The Lake’ This lake resort is positioned at a height of 1,938 meters. 
 Nainital of Uttrakhand located in Kumaon is a major tourist attraction all over the country and also for tourists from outside India. It is also famous for its respected educational centers and schools since the British era. This hill station shines like a dazzling charm in the Himalayan Mountains surrounded by lakes. Where the grand mountains and the glittering waters of the lake enhance the beauty of the town.
 According to legend, Nainital has acquired its name from the Goddess Naina while the other articulates that when the Goddess Sati lost her eyes, she was being carried by Lord Shiva and a lake was formed. This lovely small town is encircled by seven hills, commonly recognized as ‘Sapta-Shring’ – Ayarpata, Deopata, Handi-Bandi, Naina, Alma, Lariya-Kanta, and Sher-Ka-Danda.
Nanital is a bliss for nature enthusiasts. Thousands of tourists visit here during the year and at the end of the year to celebrate the Christmas and new year. Whereas boating in the lake is just one of the favorite activities of the tourists. Others come here for trekking in the densely forested mountains that surround the town.
 Nainital, due to its closeness to the outmost high ranges of the Himalaya, collects a high annual rainfall. Usually, by mid-September, the monsoon gets faded and rain happens normally after long intermissions. With the departure of the monsoon, the winds blow in an inverse direction. The weather during the post-monsoon months is categorized with cheerful skies.

Some places to enjoy here

Firstly the famous
Naina Devi Temple here is sited at the northern end of Naini Lake. This temple is one of the 51 shakti peeths where parts of the charred body of Sati fell on earth while being carried by Lord Shiva. There is a Peepal Tree that seems like sheltering the visitors in Naina Devi Temple. 
 The temple devoted to the goddess of the town Naina Devi sited at the upper end of the attractive Naini lake. And this complex becomes the site of the famous Nanda Devi Mela festival every year on Nandashtami in September month of the year.

Second the Naini Lake
The “Naini lake” offers the fascinating and mesmeric experience to the tourists which is why it is sometimes denoted as the “Queen of lakes”
Naini Lake- It is one of the 51 shakti peeths where the parts of the charred body of Sati fell on earth while being carried by Lord Shiva. It is a favorite spot for all nature and photography lovers. The timings of the lake are from 6 AM to 6 PM and you have to pay only the boating charges.

Tiffin Top- One of the best places to visit in Nainital is also known as Dorothy’s seat. It is a treat for all those who enjoy and love to capture the beauty of nature. This is famous for picnic spots, hiking, and scenic views of mountains.

and obviously, the Most visited
Nainital Zoo- Perfect place for the family to visit for picnic and outing. The official name of this Zoo is Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant High Altitude Zoo, Nainital. It is located very near to the bus stand. Timings of Zoo are from 10 AM to 4:30 PM except for Monday. The charges of this Zoo are 50 INR per person.

The Point from top
Snow View Point- It is 3 kilometers away from Nainital town and is the best attraction point for tourists. Here you can see the scenic views of snow-covered mountains. If you want to see the snowfall here then December and January are the best months to visit here. Snow view point avail the games for people to enjoy here are – free fall, flying fox, dashing car, go-karting, toy plane, toy boat, climbing wall with perspective charges.

 Eco Cave Gardens- It is located in Malital area of Nainital and maintained by Nainital Tourism. Students come here to see the wildlife habitat from the local areas. There are many caves situated which looks like a natural habitat. Here you can see Tiger Cave, the Flying fox Cave and many more. Timings of this Garden is from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Charges for adults are 60 INR and for children, the charges are 25 INR.

 Nainital has supremacy of being sited in the locality of several other lesser-known hill stations that are connected through all season motorable roads. Standpoint around Nainital offers a scenic view of Himalayan mountaintops on one side and the plains blowout on the other. Narrow wooded streets through forests of pine, oak, and deodar are outstanding for short refreshing walks.

Some of the places of visitor's interest are nearby mall, now known as the Govind Ballabh Pant Marg. Can also enjoy the row boating here, as well as paddle boating, and the stunning scenic surroundings please your senses. Naini lake has been the shooting location for many Bollywood films including kati patang, masoom amd koi mil gya.

Tourists can also enjoy shopping and can go to Mall Road, Nainital. There you can find many shops, restaurants, malls, etc. Tourist captures the rare birds around and the panorama of hilly territory while trekking. The perfect beautiful scenic pictures can be clicked here and worth cherishing.


Best time to visit

As is sited in the Kumaon hills maintaining the pleasant weather throughout the year except for the wintertime it becomes very cold here. The best time to visit this hill station is from April to June and the months of January to March are for snowfall mostly, so be prepared with the right clothing during this time visits.


How to reach here

New Delhi to Kathgodam (nearest station) by train will take 7 hrs to reach, and the distance between Delhi to Nainital is 305 km
If you want to go to Nainital by flight then Pantnagar Airport is the nearest Airport. For the train, you can get a train from Haldwani to Haridwar. The nearest train station is kathgodam. If you want to go by bus then you can easily find buses from major cities also.

I had been to Nainital twice. It is a very beautiful place. But haven't seen Nainital zoo, will visit the zoo next time. Thanks for the information.
